Join Us for Our August Celebration of Italian Wine

Truluck’s Beverage Director Dave Mattern shares why Italian wines make perfect pairings.

It’s August, and at Truluck’s, that means it’s Italian Wine Month.

August is a perfect time to discover the incredible variety of world-class wines Italy has to offer.

Why Italy? Not only do they make some of the world’s best wines, but our menu at Truluck’s is largely inspired by Mediterranean flavors. The Mediterranean style of eating and drinking is also perfect to get through the hottest part of the summer. Truluck’s Mediterranean Branzino, for example, fits summertime dining to a T.

Did you know that besides Pinot Grigio—and Truluck’s has some great ones—we also carry a Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay from Italy? They are both amazing. Truluck’s also offers white Italian varietals such as Vermentino (one from Sardinia and one from Tuscany), Verdicchio, Timorasso and Carricante that are born to pair with seafood. The Verdicchio we carry, from the producer Bucci, drinks like a White Burgundy—but for a third of the price!

Then there is Italian red wine. Italian reds are diverse and create some of the best pairings on our menu. I dream about our Terre Costantino, Etna Rosso (think light and elegant like a Pinot Noir) paired with our Blackened Pontchartrain.

We’ve got juicy and lush Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese from Tuscany and gorgeous, expressive Nebbiolo from Piedmont. And don’t forget about Amarone. Ours is the best—big, fresh and satisfying.

We’ve carved out a spot for Italian wines on our list because we love them. Each selection is carefully chosen to be the best wine for its price and as a perfect pairing for whatever Truluck’s dish you choose. We’d love to have you in to discover our Italian wines paired with our amazing seafood and steaks—it will be a remarkable experience. Your table is waiting.
