Introducing Truluck’s Whiskey

The story behind the official Truluck’s single barrel bourbon

Sharing the stories behind the products we source is a central part of the Truluck’s experience. Many of our purveyors have mastered their craft over several generations, and their passion and commitment to quality are present in everything that ends up on your plate — and in your glass.

The first taste of the official Truluck’s single barrel bourbon in our restaurants is a moment many years in the making, and we’re excited to share the experience with you this fall.

The process began in earnest at the Old Forester Whisky distillery in Louisville, KY. Old Forester bourbon dates back to 1870, and it’s been a favorite among Truluck’s bartenders and guests for years, so we felt privileged when they selected us to do a barrel tasting. Led by master distiller Chris Morris, we tasted three of their single barrel bourbons, each of which were a year apart.

Unlike blended whiskeys, which achieve a consistent, master flavor profile by combining many different barrels, a single barrel whiskey is a singular expression, full of interesting tasting notes. There’s nothing else that tastes quite like it, and that’s the unique, limited edition experience we wanted to offer guests at our restaurants.

Each barrel was delicious, but in the end our team all agreed that one of them was best for Truluck’s. Chris from Old Forester shared our opinion, making us even more confident that we’d picked a winner. Our chosen whiskey is extremely smooth and elegant, with notes of caramel and pronounced oak. The barrel itself was about 12 months older than the other two, which added a depth of character and oaky, vanilla flavor. It drinks like a 15-year bourbon — supremely sippable with a long, luxurious finish. It’s a true whiskey drinkers’ bourbon.

Like a fresh seafood dish that’s only in season for a short time, there’s something magical about sipping an original, small-batch whiskey. Knowing that it won’t last forever makes every moment that much more memorable, and we’re excited to offer our guests a rare experience they’ll never forget.

Whether you’re a true aficionado or simply bourbon curious, prefer your whiskey neat or in a classic cocktail, you’ll find something to love in the official Truluck’s single barrel bourbon. It’s available now in our Single Barrel Manhattan, and it pairs beautifully with our Prime Steaks and Sesame Seared Tuna.
