Purveyors of Amazing: Shawn Farmer
The sales & events manager of Truluck’s Washington, D.C., whose passion about creating memories and building relationships, continues to set the bar for extraordinary.
Shawn Farmer has been a dynamite in the event space with Truluck’s and has created a legacy to be celebrated. With a keen eye on the details and dedication to bringing guests’ dream events to life, you’d think that Shawn Farmer always worked in hospitality. A driving force of creative event experiences and hospitality for our guests at Truluck’s Washington, D.C., she actually started her career in corporate law firms coordinating business development and recruiting endeavors.
“Over the course of time, I discovered I was most passionate about planning in-house and off-site firm events,” she says. “When I had the opportunity to open III Forks Austin, it made sense to change my career path and really focus on what I loved—the hospitality component of working with clients and creating unique experiences.”
Farmer spent the next 14 years as the sales and events manager at III Forks Steakhouse in Austin and Chicago before making her way to Truluck’s.
“My favorite thing about working at Truluck’s is selling a luxury brand and unique experience with a more casual yet professional approach that makes our customers feel comfortable and welcome from the time they book their event until their departure,” she said.
The Truluck’s Washington, D.C, location opened in 2021, and continues to grow and delight guests with every dish and cocktail served—in part thanks for Farmer.
She, along with the rest of the team, have continued to build on their continued accomplishments “I’m delighted to report that each year gets better than the next thanks to an amazing opening management team that stuck around, provided support and believed in Truluck’s success!” she says. “I am happy to have been a part of this family and really look forward to all the opportunities Truluck’s has to grow their business in D.C.”
Outside of work, you may find Farmer at art fairs or exploring quaint towns across Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia. She enjoys making her own memories with friends and family, just as she has done for guests at Truluck’s.
“I have a lot of great memories that I’ve helped to create since we opened three years ago, but my very favorite one just happened. I have a reoccurring convention group that’s booked with us every year, each year growing significantly. We just hosted their 2024 dinner, and they followed up with an email informing me they were hosting all of their 2025 convention dinners with Truluck’s,” Farmer says. “The true win is the relationship I’ve cultivated with this group, along with the rapport that’s been established with my banquet team. It was amazing getting invited into the room throughout the entire evening to meet leadership and VIP guests and even more gratifying watching all of them hug my staff and tell them how them how much they look forward to this event each year. This is what truly sets us apart—our ability to build relationships, provide great service and make our guests feel special!”
And no one practices what they preach more than Shawn Farmer. The ultimate and genuine professional, Truluck’s is so grateful for Shawn Farmer’s contribution to creating these monumental moments—for our guests and for our larger Truluck’s family who has had the distinct honor of learning and working alongside her.
