23 Matches, Three Cities, One Restaurant Group: A World Cup Dining Guide at Truluck’s

By: Dave Mattern, Beverage Director

May 27, 2026

Half the experience is the match. The other half is where the evening starts — or where it winds down. I’ve got your guide to elevated match-day dining across Truluck’s locations in Miami, Dallas, and Houston – from fresh Pacific and Alaskan crab to USDA Prime steaks and specialty cocktails built for the biggest international sporting event of 2026.

Truluck's Pacific and Alaskan crab platter featuring Red King Crab, Wild Bairdi snow crab, and Dungeness crab on ice — the summer crab program served during the 2026 FIFA World Cup

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is the largest sporting event the United States has hosted in a generation. The scale of this World Cup is hard to overstate: 48 teams, 11 US host cities, and more than five weeks of matches…. FIFA expects 6.5 million total attendees across the tournament’s 16 host cities in three countries, with Tourism Economics projecting 1.24 million international visitors to the United States alone – driving hotels, restaurants, and transportation to peak demand from coast to coast.

And we’ve been preparing for this ever since the schedules were released! Truluck’s serves three of those eleven host cities – Miami, Dallas, and Houston. Between Hard Rock Stadium, AT&T Stadium, and NRG Stadium, our three host cities will see 23 matches between June 14 and July 18, including a semifinal, a Bronze Final, and the only Round of 16 match falling on Independence Day weekend.

From where I sit at the restaurant, the calls have already started. Argentine families locking in Dallas reservations for the Messi matches. Portuguese visitors planning Houston dinners around Ronaldo’s two appearances. Corporate hospitality groups securing private rooms across all three cities. The reservation book  has been busy since the day FIFA released the schedule last December.

Whether you’re attending one match in one city or following your national team across the country, here’s how to plan your World Cup dinners at Truluck’s – and what to order while you’re at the table or starting at the bar.

What Makes the 2026 World Cup Different Across Truluck’s Three Host Cities?

Key Takeaways

The 2026 FIFA World Cup brings 23 matches across Miami, Dallas, and Houston between June 14 and July 18. Each city hosts a different competition tier: Dallas claims the semifinal, Miami hosts the Bronze Final, and Houston gets the Independence Day Round of 16. Truluck’s operates six locations across the three host cities – Miami and Fort Lauderdale, Dallas Uptown, Southlake and Plano, plus Houston Galleria and The Woodlands.

The three Truluck’s host cities each draw a different audience and a different match profile.

Dallas hosts more matches than any other US city – nine in total, including one of only two US semifinals. AT&T Stadium gets the headline knockout match in North Texas, with Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium hosting the tournament’s other semifinal the following day. Argentina plays twice in Dallas during the group stage, with Lionel Messi expected on the pitch. The Texas Metroplex is preparing for its biggest sporting event since the 1994 World Cup, which also passed through North Texas.

Houston hosts seven matches at NRG Stadium between June 14 and July 4 – including Germany’s tournament opener on Day 1, two Portugal matches (Cristiano Ronaldo’s group stage runs through Houston), and the only Round of 16 match falling on Independence Day weekend. Houston is also where Truluck’s was founded in 1992, which makes the Galleria location something of a homecoming for World Cup visitors who know and love what we do and how we do it.

Miami hosts seven matches at Hard Rock Stadium between June 15 and July 18 – including a quarterfinal and the Bronze Final, the third-place match between the two losing semifinalists. Miami’s tournament window is the longest of the three cities at 33 days, with Group H playing two matches at Hard Rock and Brazil, Portugal, and Colombia all making appearances.

Restaurant reservations will be in high demand throughout the entire tournament window in all three cities – not just on match days. International visitors often stay 7 to 14 days following their national teams, dining out every night. FIFA projects the tournament will deliver a $17.2 billion GDP boost to the United States alone and create 185,000 jobs across the host cities. By midweek of each match cluster, you can feel the shift in the reservation book.

If you’re planning to be in any of these cities for any of it, making a reservation now is the name of the game.

Where to Dine Around a World Cup Match in Miami

Truluck's Miami exterior at 777 Brickell Avenue, the fine dining seafood restaurant 25 minutes from Hard Rock Stadium for 2026 FIFA World Cup match-day dinners

Key Takeaways

Hard Rock Stadium sits 17 miles north of Brickell, the closest dining corridor with upscale options. Truluck’s Miami in Brickell is a 25–35 minute drive from Hard Rock Stadium, making the restaurant ideal for both pre-match dinners and post-match late seatings. Truluck’s Fort Lauderdale offers an alternative for fans staying in Broward County.

Miami’s seven World Cup matches fall across three evening kickoff windows in Eastern Time: 5 PM ET, 6 PM ET, and 7:30 PM ET. The Quarterfinal on July 11 and the Bronze Final on July 18 — both Saturday 5 PM ET kickoffs — are going to be the toughest reservations of the tournament window. You can already feel those weekends taking shape in the reservation book.

From a dining perspective, Miami during the World Cup is really about timing. The city already moves late at night, and international soccer crowds push that energy even further. Some guests will want a proper dinner before kickoff. Others will come in after the match still talking about every call, every goal, every near miss over cocktails and dessert. And we are here for it all, believe me!

Truluck’s Miami at 777 Brickell Avenue sits in the center of Brickell’s dining and hotel corridor, walking distance from the Four Seasons, SLS Brickell, and Mandarin Oriental. The free Metromover connects Downtown hotels like the InterContinental and JW Marriott Marquis to Brickell in under ten minutes. For evening kickoffs ending around 8 PM (the 6 PM matches like the Round of 32 on July 3), a 9:00 or 9:30 PM post-match dinner reservation lands in our service window. For 5 PM Saturday matches, an 8:30 or 9:00 PM dinner reservation works cleanly.

Truluck’s Fort Lauderdale on North Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd.  sits roughly 18 miles north of Hard Rock Stadium, almost the same distance as Brickell. For fans staying in Broward County – where hotel rates run 30–50% lower than Miami during peak tournament weeks – Fort Lauderdale is the smarter dining base. Same menu, same sourcing, same wine program just at a different pace.

The 7:30 PM kickoff window deserves a different strategy. The Colombia vs. Portugal match on June 27 is one of Miami’s marquee group-stage games, and a 7:30 PM start means a 9:30 PM finish. By the time fans clear stadium traffic and make their way back to Brickell, timing matters. Truluck’s Miami is well-positioned for the night, with last reservations at 10 PM Sunday through Thursday and 11 PM Friday and Saturday, making it a strong choice for a late dinner, celebratory cocktails, or one more round after the match.

If I were planning the evening myself, I’d make the reservation before the night gets away from me. For the 7:30 PM matches, that might mean an early dinner at 5:30 or 6:00 PM before heading to the stadium, or a late reservation back in Brickell once the match ends. Either way, it’s the kind of night Miami does especially well during a tournament like this — dinner, cocktails, celebration, and a city still buzzing well past midnight.

Where to Dine Around a World Cup Match in Dallas

The bar at Truluck's, featuring an extensive whiskey and spirits selection, crystal chandelier, and intimate lounge seating for cocktails and Happy Hour during the World Cup

Key Takeaways

AT&T Stadium sits in Arlington, between Dallas and Fort Worth. Truluck’s Uptown is roughly 25 minutes east of the stadium, Truluck’s Southlake is 30 minutes northwest, and Truluck’s Plano is about 45 minutes northeast. Dallas hosts more matches than any other US city, including a semifinal on July 14.

Everything is bigger in Texas as they say and Dallas is ready to go big for the World Cup. Afterall, Dallas’s nine matches kick off across a wide span of times – anywhere from noon to 9 PM Central. Four of the group-stage matches fall in afternoon windows (12 PM, 1 PM, 2 PM, or 3 PM CT). Both Round of 32 matches and the July 14 semifinal are also early-afternoon kickoffs. The one outlier is Jordan vs. Argentina on June 27 at 9 PM CT – the latest local kickoff time of the entire group stage anywhere in the tournament.

Three Truluck’s locations across North Texas mean three different match-day routes home depending on where you’re staying.

Truluck’s Uptown at 2401 McKinney Avenue sits about 25 minutes east of AT&T Stadium and serves anyone staying in Downtown Dallas, the Arts District, or near American Airlines Center. The Trinity Railway Express runs every 30 minutes on match days between Union Station in Downtown Dallas, Downtown Fort Worth, and CentrePort Station near the stadium – a short rideshare from Uptown if you want to skip the drive entirely.

Truluck’s Southlake at 1420 Plaza Place sits 30 minutes northwest of AT&T Stadium and works best for fans staying in Southlake, Grapevine, Westlake, or the northwestern suburbs. Czechia trains at Texas Health Mansfield Stadium and Sweden at Toyota Stadium in Frisco – both base camps closer to the Southlake side of the Metroplex than to Uptown.

Truluck’s Plano at 7161 Bishop Road in The Shops at Legacy sits 45 minutes northeast of the stadium. The longest drive of the three, but the right choice if you’re staying in Plano, Frisco, or the northeastern corridor – particularly for the early-afternoon kickoffs when you have time to drive back from Arlington and still sit down at a reasonable hour.

For early-afternoon kickoffs (the four group-stage games, both Round of 32 matches, the Round of 16, and the July 14 semifinal), the post-match dining math is straightforward: matches end between 2 and 5 PM, fans clear traffic, and 6:30 to 7:30 PM dinner reservations work cleanly. For the 9 PM Jordan vs. Argentina match, eat dinner before – a 5:30 or 6:00 PM reservation at any of our three locations gives you the buffer to make kickoff.

Where to Dine Around a World Cup Match in Houston

The renovated dining room at Truluck's Galleria in Houston, featuring floor-to-ceiling olive trees and marble flooring — the original Truluck's location founded in 1992 and the closest fine dining seafood restaurant to NRG Stadium

Key Takeaways

NRG Stadium at 1 NRG Parkway is the only Texas World Cup venue with a fully climate-controlled, retractable-roof environment and direct rail service. Truluck’s Galleria is approximately 15 minutes northwest of the stadium, and Truluck’s The Woodlands is approximately 45 minutes north. Six of Houston’s seven matches kick off at noon Central Time.

Houston gets the most unusual kickoff schedule of the three host cities. Six of seven matches start at noon CT – including Germany vs. Curaçao on June 14 (one of the earliest kickoffs of that tournament day), the two Portugal matches on June 17 and June 23, the Netherlands match on June 20, the Round of 32 on June 29, and the July 4 Round of 16. The one evening match is Cabo Verde vs. Saudi Arabia on Friday, June 26 at 7 PM CT.

Truluck’s Galleria at 5350 Westheimer Road is the original Truluck’s, opened in 1992. Recently renovated with floor-to-ceiling olive trees in the main dining room and a redesigned bar, the Galleria location sits about 15 minutes northwest of NRG Stadium just outside the Loop. The international hotel concentration around the Galleria – the Post Oak Hotel, the JW Marriott Houston by The Galleria, the Royal Sonesta, the Houstonian, the Hilton Galleria – makes the area the natural base for World Cup visitors staying in Houston.

Truluck's Galleria exterior at 5350 Westheimer Road in Houston, the original Truluck's location and 15 minutes from NRG Stadium for 2026 FIFA World Cup match-day dining

Truluck’s The Woodlands at 1900 Hughes Landing Boulevard, Suite 600 sits on the shoreline of Lake Woodlands at Hughes Landing – about 45 minutes north of NRG Stadium when traffic is moving. Fresh off it’s own renovation, the lakeside location is genuinely different from the urban Galleria experience, with floor-to-ceiling windows pulling the view into the newly refreshed dining room. For visitors staying in The Woodlands, Spring, or anywhere in the north Houston corridor – and that includes a lot of corporate housing for the energy industry – this is the easier match-day route.

Truluck's The Woodlands exterior at Hughes Landing on Lake Woodlands at sunset, the North Houston fine dining destination 45 minutes from NRG Stadium during the 2026 FIFA World Cup

For Houston’s six noon kickoffs, the post-match math is the same across all of them: matches end around 2 PM, you’ve cleared NRG Park by 2:30 or 2:45, and you arrive at the Galleria around 3:00 PM — right in the heart of the international late-lunch tradition that Houston’s Latin American, Spanish, and Portuguese guests already know well. Our 3 PM tables are some of the most relaxed of the day. The kitchen is fully open, the dining room is calmer than it gets at peak dinner, and there’s room to linger over multiple courses without a 9 PM rush behind you. It’s the kind of long, leisurely meal that turns a match day into a full Houston experience. Both are a win-win situation in my book!

For the July 4 Round of 16, plan dinner for 7:00 PM at the Galleria and ride the Independence Day energy through the evening. The FIFA Fan Festival at Discovery Green downtown runs all day, and Houston’s traditional Fourth of July fireworks display goes off at sundown. It’s going to be one of the most uniquely American World Cup match days of the entire tournament.

What’s in Season – and What to Order at Truluck’s During the World Cup

Key Takeaways

Florida stone crab is out of season during the entire World Cup window (June 11 – July 19), which means summer at Truluck’s shifts toward Pacific and Alaskan crab at peak harvest. Throughout the tournament, Truluck’s will feature Red King Crab, Wild Bairdi Crab, and Dungeness Crab alongside hand-cut USDA Prime steaks, specialty cocktails, exceptional wines, and signature desserts.

From my perspective, this is actually one of the best times of year to experience the menu. The summer crab options give guests a wider range of flavor and texture than most people expect — from the richness of Red King Crab to the cleaner, more delicate profile of Dungeness. Pair that with a great bottle of wine or one of our craft cocktails after a match, and that’s really what a World Cup dinner at Truluck’s should feel like.

Red King Crab Legs – Sourced from cold-water fisheries in the Bering Sea off the coast of Alaska. Massive legs, sweet meat, drawn butter, and the kind of presentation that anchors an evening. This is the dish to order if you’ve never had it. We’ve written more about our King Crab sourcing if you want the full story.

Truluck's Red King Crab Legs from the Bering Sea — the Alaskan crab variety served at peak summer season during the 2026 FIFA World Cup tournament window

Wild Bairdi Crab – A snow crab variety from the Bering Sea, sweeter and more refined than the more common opilio snow crab found in most American restaurants. Dense, firm meat served in the leg.

Dungeness Crab – Dungeness is the one I usually steer wine drinkers toward — cleaner, lighter, and easier to pair across the table. The summer months catch Dungeness at peak meat-to-shell ratio. Order this if you want something refined and delicate.

Alongside the crab program, the summer menu leans on a few staples that work across all three cities:

  • Hand-Cut USDA Prime Steaks – We cut our steaks in-house, every day, from USDA Prime – selected for exceptional marbling and flavor. Filet for tenderness, New York strip for flavor and sear. Texas markets order steak as much as seafood, which is why the Dallas and Houston locations keep the Prime program at full capacity throughout the tournament.
  • Miso-Glazed Sea Bass – The Sea Bass is one of those dishes guests order cautiously the first time and then quietly becomes everyone’s favorite. Rich, balanced, and refined.
  • Sesame-Crusted Ahi Tuna – A long-time house favorite that’s been on the menu for decades because it earns its place.
  • Sunday Slow-Roasted Prime Rib – Available all evening on Sundays as part of our TRU Ninety-Two three-course prix fixe. The World Cup Final is on Sunday, July 19.
  • Carrot Cake – Ask anyone who’s been to Truluck’s. If you know, you know.

Across Truluck’s World Cup locations — Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Houston, The Woodlands, Dallas, Plano, and Southlake — the menu gives guests a polished way to build the night around the match. In South Florida, that might mean seafood and cocktails in Brickell or along Fort Lauderdale Beach. In Houston and The Woodlands, it may be a celebratory steak-and-crab dinner before or after gathering with clients, friends, or family. In DFW, guests have multiple Truluck’s locations to choose from depending on where they are staying, watching, or celebrating. The throughline is the same in every market: premium seafood, prime steaks, thoughtful wine, handcrafted cocktails, and the kind of service that makes the meal feel like part of the event.

Considering I am the Beverage Manager, I may have saved the best for last. If you’re starting at the bar, our cocktail menu is built for any occasion. We are especially excited for the World Cup feature cocktail called FÚTBOL PASIÓN.

Built for the energy of the World Cup, the Fútbol Pasión brings together the richness of Don Julio 1942 with bright passionfruit, fresh lemon, and a touch of Grand Marnier for depth and citrus warmth. Orange bitters keep the finish balanced, while the Tajín-rimmed glass adds just enough spice to make the flavors pop.

A Truluck's signature cocktail with mango, Tajín spice rim, and dragon fruit garnish — part of the seasonal cocktail menu available during World Cup match weeks

It’s the kind of cocktail that starts as your first round before kickoff and somehow becomes your second after the match.

Served over a hand-cut ice block in a rocks glass and finished with a dragonfruit garnish styled like a soccer ball, the presentation leans into the spirit of the tournament without losing the refinement of the bar program.

So whether your team wins or loses, you will always have a game-changing night when it starts or ends with Truluck’s.

For Miami and Dallas weekday matches with afternoon or evening kickoffs, lunch is a viable pre-match option. For Houston’s six noon kickoffs, lunch is not realistic — stadium security requires arrival by 10–10:30 AM. The exception is the one Houston evening match (Cabo Verde vs. Saudi Arabia on Friday, June 26 at 7 PM CT), when a midday lunch at the Galleria or The Woodlands works cleanly.

How early should you book a restaurant reservation for the World Cup?

Reservations should be made at least two weeks in advance for standard dining room tables. The highest-demand dates of the tournament — the June 27 Jordan vs. Argentina match in Dallas, the July 11 quarterfinal in Miami, the July 14 semifinal in Dallas, the July 18 Bronze Final in Miami, and the Final watch party on July 19 — should be booked as early as possible. Private rooms and groups of six or more should book three to four weeks ahead.

Yes. Truluck’s operates with the same menu, sourcing, and service standards across all six locations in Miami, Dallas, and Houston. Fans following Argentina from Dallas through the knockout rounds, Portuguese visitors traveling between Houston and Miami, or any group attending matches in multiple cities can book reservations at every Truluck’s location they visit.
